79th Plebiscite of “Przegląd Sportowy” and TVP for the best sportsman has passed. As every year, the laureate was chosen by readers of “Przegląd Sportowy” and a TV audience. Justyna Kowalczyk was named the best athlete in Poland of 2013, for the fifth time in a row. During the gala, other awards were also granted. Among the laureates was The General Director of Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour. Czesław Lang was chosen to be the Ambassador of Polish Sport.
“This award makes me happy, it obliges and motivates me to work much harder to promote physical activity – especially amongst the youngest,” he said.“Sport can become a great passion, and only in possessing the passion can you be a happy man. Sport gave to me very much in my life. I have learned from it work, persistence, setting and realising goals and realising them, first when I was a sportsman and was reaching the medals, later when I began to organise sport events. I have reached many goals through what I have learned doing sports. Which ones? I was constantly endeavouring to introduce the Tour de Pologne to the “Cycling Champions League” – nowadays TdP is amongst the greatest races in the world.”
However, the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour, which in the most recent edition crossed the borders of the country for the first time, is not the only event organised by Czesław Lang and his partners. Lang Team also organised the Amateur Tour de Pologne, the MTB Grand Prix, the Visegrad Cycling Race – an event in which cyclists traversed 533 kilometres on the roads of Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, the Skandia Maraton Lang Team, and finally something for the youngest – the Nutella Mini Tour de Pologne. The cycling events organised every year for many years, have helped to popularise physical activity amongst Poles. These events, which are often international, also contribute significantly to the promotion of Poland in the world.
