There was total of 117 pictures from: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine, the USA and the UK were sent to the contest.

The authors of the pieces were inspired by events from the history of Poland such as The Battle of Grunwald, The Warsaw Uprising, Baptism of Poland, Miracle on the Vistula, World War II, The Prussian Homage. Other historical characters such as Janusz Korczak, John Paul II, Jozef Pilsudski, Lech Walesa, Mieszko I, Boleslaw the Brave, Władysław III of Varna, Queen Jadwiga, Casimir the Great, Maria Curie Sklodowska, bear Wojtek and many others.

A team of youths and a professional jury selected the best, finest works of art.  The youth jury, consisted of the Warsaw secondary school students, selected, in their opinion, the best of the best: the work of Justyna Sadowska (17 years-old from Lithuania) – “Poles on their way to penal servitude.” She was awarded with the Grand Prix.

The professional jury composed of Zofia Bisiak, Katarzyna Krasowska, Maciej Krawczyk and Michał Szuszkiewicz awarded:

Brygida Macel, (14 years-old from Lithuania) – „Ringing of the Sigismund Bell – beginning of the World War II, 1939.”

Matylda Hoffman, (14 years-old from Great Britain) – diptych: „ Children Insurgents” – part 1 „Nurses”, part 2 Boys with Molotov cocktails”;

and

Nikola Czerwińska, (13 years-old from Germany) „The Warsaw Uprising”;

Adrianna Volosevic, (15 years-old from Lithuania) „The year: 1863 – 1864”;

Martyna Koczotowska, (12 years-old from Slovakia) „For the freedom Poland and Latvia – 1920.”

Viestursa Balodisa, (17 years-old from Lithuania) „The World War II in Warsaw”

Julija Radlinskaite, (16 years-old from Lithuania) „The World War II. Partisans on the trail.”

 

Among all entries to the competition the jury selected 33 works for the exhibition.

The exhibition will be presented in the form of banners in the Gallery Po Prostu (Dreszera Park, Puławska St.) and the opening will take place on November 8, 2013 at 5.00 p.m. and  November 16 2013.  at 6.00 in Dorożkarnia. The exhibition’s opening in Dorożkarnia will be accompanied by concert.
