The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a grant competition for carrying out a public task “Cooperation with the Polish diaspora and Poles abroad in 2016.” The competition has a budget of PLN 61 million available for non-governmental organisations and other eligible entities.

Americans of Polish descent, Polish immigrants and even a couple of “Poles by choice ” – 30 people told their life stories in a unique project run by the Emigration Museum in Gdynia. The artist photographer Tomek Zerek and researcher Dr Anna Muller spent a few weeks in a place which captivated them both. Hamtramck is a small town in the state of Michigan, an exceptional enclave of Polish Americans and perhaps also a lens of social change in the world of western culture. Meet the “People of Hamtramck” as the Emigration Museum welcomes you to the exhibition which tells their stories, on 12 November in the USA and 5 December in Poland.

The second edition of the Made in Poland conference ended on Friday, October 23. The two-day event attracted dozens of participants and representatives of organisations and of the Polish diaspora media from many European countries.
“Monument of Polish Soldiers and Wojtek the Bear” will be erected in the historical centre of Edinburgh. The substructure of the statue presenting an extraordinary Corporal-bear and an artillery man from the 2nd Polish Corps of General Anders will be made of Polish granite from a mine in Strzegom. The transport of the material is scheduled for September 2 in the evening, and is entirely financed by MCKB – a general contractor from Lodz, Poland.

On Sunday, August 2 at the Polish National Home in Brooklyn will be held the rededication ceremony of the Warsaw Uprising Memorial in Brooklyn, NY, in honor of the 71st Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.
“I’m glad to appoint a man who will be representing Poland at a major organisation,” Minister Grzegorz Schetyna said at a ceremony to present Professor Jacek Purchla with the act of appointment for President of the Polish National Commission for UNESCO.
